These, and all TEC services, are free of charge to residents of Philadelphia. The TEC Family Center provides workshops for kids living with a member of their immediate family or household with a mental illness. Kids learn to effectively deal with their feelings, find healthy ways to cope, and overcome stigma associated with mental illness in a positive, community based setting. We are here to listen or talk if kids or someone who cares about them needs us. We are available to work with individuals and identify resources that are available to help families deal with mental illness. We have a Web site, www.mhasp.org/coping. Our Web site was designed and built by and for kids. It also has resources for other family members, mental health service providers, and educators. Our site contains proven coping skills; a database of community resources, stories provided by kids, medical Q&A, and more. For more information call 215-751-1800 ext. 229 or email kids@mhasp.org.
