When to Call

How Do I Know If My Child Has an Emotional or Behavioral Disorder?

Children with emotional or behavioral disorders behave differently than other children. Usually, parents are the first ones to recognize this troubling behavior. It often begins with a gut feeling in the pit of the stomach that something isn't quite right. Other times, a preschool teacher or caregiver may be the first to observe that a child doesn't play with other children, or spends a lot of time just staring into space.

When To Call PIN

Any parent who has a question about accessing mental health services for their child or any questions about other child-serving system services should call PIN.

Many times, parents who call us have already tried to talk to their friends, their pediatrician or a school counselor about their concerns. Too often, though, well-meaning friends and family members can offer only reassurances, while a busy pediatrician might assume it is simply a developmental stage.

If you're a parent and you know you need better answers call or email: about@pinofpa.org us. And while you are here, visit our Resources section to find the information and tools you need.
